I Founded Bees Knees Pomade in Febuary, 2012. I am the founder of the Driven Dead Car Club, and and a huge fan of the Kustom Kulture lifestyle. After finding out the effects that petroleum products can have on the hair and scalp, I decided that petroleum should go into my 1948 ford... not on my head. I started my search for a petroleum free pomade, but after many months searching the market I found that even most "all natural" pomades included petroleum or mineral oils. The alternatives that I found that were a true all natural product just didn't have the same look and feel, and with as active I am playing in bands and swing dancing they usually fell from sweat.
I decided to look into making my own, however finding a solution came to be a tricky task. It took 2 years of trying out different materials before I finally found something that I loved, and could respectfully call a pomade. One of my goals while formulating Bees Knees Pomade was not only did to find a solution, but to also include ingredients that help to rejuvenate the scalp. That is excatly what I did.
When Bees Knees Pomade finally did come to the final recipie, I wasn't planning on selling it. I was going to use it for my own personal use, but I gave a few samples to friends and they convinced me that this needed to be on the market. Thus Bees Knees Pomade was born.
You may also notice the logo resembles that of the Seabees, this was intentional. The Seabees were one of the critical game changers for us in WWII. On my Mothers side of the family my great grandfather was an original Seabee who always had great hair. My family on both sides has have a military background including my Grandfather and my Grandmother on my Dad's side meeting in the Marines. I wanted to pay tribute to my family for their hard work helping to defend our nation, and to all of the other active duty and military vets that give their all to keep this nation safe. That is why I pay my respect to them through my logo.
I hope that you enjoy Bees Knees Pomade as much as I do.
